The Chinese online group COL recently appointed Timothy Oh, a senior industry executive, as the General Manager of the South-East Asia Region and Head of the International Information Centre, at a time when the company had announced the launch of what it called the world ‘ s largest micro-short play distribution centre.
Timothy Oh will have overall responsibility for COL operations in South-East Asia and global media dissemination, with more than 17 years of experience in marketing, business strategy and business leadership. He was also the Managing Director of the Microgaming Taiwan Distinctive Corporation and Director of Global Growth Marketing, leading a 50-person team to achieve regional performance growth.

Back when FLY Entertainment was a star broker, Timothy Oh was known for working with international artists such as Teenage Age and Super Junior. During his tenure in Asia on the Sony Video Television Network, his campaign to promote Running Man and Death Note was honoured and expanded to the areas of applied marketing, games and content distribution. A recent regional director of the LiveScore Group for Asia and the Pacific, who is responsible for promoting the growth of sports media brands in the region.
According to its leader, Timothy Oh also built and led the B2B and B2C market entry strategy, managing a global partnership with top advertising brands, focusing on localization of markets, the transformation of user experience and the development of millions of users as high-value loyal fans.
COL ‘ s newly created distribution department will provide more than 1,000 Chinese and English-language short plays to global broadcasters, streaming media platforms, telecommunication operators and digital channels to meet the growing market demand for short play series content. COL also acquired an animated studio in 2023, the latter of which is currently on display under the banner of the IP, Little Black War II.

In addition to the distribution business, COL announced that it was investing in AI-driven production processes (including AI-generated animated series) aimed at reducing production cycles and scaling up global content. With Timothy Oh in South-East Asia, these initiatives will be tailored to regional audiences while supporting the broader growth strategy of COL.

The appointment coincided with the continued expansion of the global entertainment market in the mini-short drama and the emergence of large brands for marketing purposes. Recently, the Koyenne Malaysia Corporation launched a micro-short play, Cahaya Raya, in TikTok, which focused on the Juarez Festival as an opportunity for forgiveness and celebration to tell the story of a “star of two generations” who regained self-worth after a painful break-up.

In addition, Bayersdorf Malaysia also tested the water micro-shorts for the New Year of Agriculture, “Navia Says New” and “Nivya Love and Jealous” festivals, using storytelling, Electro-Integrator Integration and KOL ‘ s multi-dimensional content strategy.
